Inclusive Education for Every Learner

Supporting Every Step of the Journey for Students with SEND

Our Commitment to SEND.

At White Rose Academies Trust we believe in providing a high-quality, inclusive education for all students, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Our commitment is to ensure that every learner receives the tailored support they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. We work closely with students, their families and external agencies to create personalised support plans that cater to each child's individual needs.

Personalised Support Plans for Every Student

We create tailored support plans that focus on individual strengths and challenges, ensuring every student gets the right guidance, adjustments, and resources to succeed.

Highly Trained SEND Specialists and Staff

Our expert SENDCo team and staff receive specialised training to provide the latest strategies and personalised interventions, supporting students every step of the way.

Inclusive and Collaborative Approach

We work closely with families, staff, and external specialists to create an inclusive environment where every student feels valued, supported, and empowered to thrive.

SEND Provision Across Our Schools.

Across all of our schools, we provide a range of interventions and support systems designed to meet the diverse needs of students with SEND. From adaptive classroom teaching to one-to-one support and specialist provisions, our schools ensure that each child receives the right level of assistance to succeed.

Our teachers, support staff and SENDCo's (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinators) are trained to adapt the curriculum and personalise learning to suit each student's needs, promoting an inclusive and engaging environment. We also work with external agencies and specialists to provide additional expertise where required, ensuring a collaborative approach to supporting students with SEND.

  • How does the Trust identify and support students with SEND?

We use a proactive approach to identify SEND needs early, through assessments, teacher observations, and collaboration with families. Once identified, we create personalised support plans with tailored teaching strategies, reasonable adjustments, and access to specialist resources.

  • What types of support are available for students with SEND?

Our support includes adaptive classroom teaching, one-to-one interventions, specialist provisions, and emotional wellbeing support. We also work with external agencies to provide additional expertise, ensuring every student receives the help they need.

  • How can parents and carers get involved in their child’s SEND support?

We encourage open communication and collaboration with families. Parents and carers can meet with our SENDCo team, attend review meetings, and access resources such as our SEND newsletters to stay informed and actively involved in their child’s learning journey.

Identifying and Supporting SEND Needs.

We take a proactive approach to identifying and supporting the needs of students with SEND. Our experienced staff use a range of assessment tools to identify needs early, ensuring that no child falls through the cracks. Once identified, we work with students, their families and specialists to create a personalised support plan that include reasonable adjustments, tailored teaching strategies, and, where necessary, access to additional resources. Our support extends beyond the classroom, ensuring emotional and social wellbeing is a key focus of every child’s development.

SEND Policy and Approach

Our SEND policy outlines our approach to supporting students with SEND, detailing the roles and responsibilities of staff, the resources available, and the procedures for identifying and supporting SEND needs. We aim to ensure that all students have equal access to the curriculum, along with the appropriate support to help them achieve their personal best.
