Growing in confidence

The White Rose Academies Trust are excited to introduce Kavita Panesar as Leeds City Academy's Business Admin Apprentice. Kavita will be writing about experiences from working at Leeds City Academy within the Admin team; read Kavita's third blog below:

Before the half term break, I was able to attend another Apprentice catch up meeting with all the apprentices from the Trust. I always enjoy attending these meetings, as I come away with new ideas and ways to improve my work.

I was able to meet with my college assessor again and discuss the progress I have made since their last visit. I was able to speak about the support I am receiving/would like to receive. I was also taught how to upload files on to the OneFile, which is a system where I upload my work/evidence.

"I am grateful for all the training and support I receive from both colleagues at Leeds City Academy and Leeds City College."

As well as receiving training on how to use OneFile, Ms Stephen and I were trained on how to use sQuid. sQuid is a system parents use to transfer money onto their child’s account. This money can then be used to pay for lunches and school trips. I have found this system very simple & easy to use and I hope that I can use this knowledge to support parents and carers access this system.

On Friday before we broke up for the half term, I had gone to an apprentice conference at Leeds City College. This was an all-day event, I have never been to one before so I was excited to go. The day started off with the presenters introducing themselves and what role they do at Leeds City College. We were then encouraged to get into groups and discuss with the other apprentices what our roles are and what similarities we have. I was surprised to see the number of apprentices that receiving training at Leeds City College. It was great to meet with the apprentices that are doing the same Level 3 Business Administration qualification that I am. I am really looking forward to the next conference!

As I have written this blog and reflected on the past few weeks I feel very lucky to work at Leeds City Academy. I am grateful for all the training and support I receive from both colleagues at Leeds City Academy and Leeds City College."
