Digital Communications & Content Officer

Purpose of job:

 

Working within the WRAT Communications Team, market and publicise White Rose Academies Trust and its schools, to help build the profile, awareness and understanding of the Trust’s work with all key audiences/stakeholders locally and nationally. To lead the Trust’s online presence and act as a specialist resource for the whole organisation. To research, maintain and develop innovative content across the WRAT & Academy websites, social networking sites and through wider digital marketing channels; creative content for video, audio, and events.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development of new online resources, projects and media strategies with the Head of Marketing and Communications & Graphic / Web Designer.

  • Liaise with wider Trust staff and volunteers, students and families as necessary to gather news stories or other content, managing relationships in an appropriate manner with safeguarded approval processes.

  • Work with the Head of Marketing and Communications to improve and develop Trust websites in line with the marketing and communications plan.

  • Work with the Communications Team to ensure all online content is reviewed, kept up to date and thereafter maintained.

  • To strategize, create and nurture audiences using Hootsuite CMS (Twitter, Facebook, Flickr, Blogs, You Tube. etc) for WRAT and LCA/LWA/LEA. Ensure the content is engaging, appropriate, timely, balanced and in line with values and strategies.

  • Manage day-to-day interactions with online stakeholders; students, staff, local communities, partners through social media.

  • Provide professional Press Release documents for wider promotion.

  • To provide web-friendly creative copy, news content, editorial for WRAT/Academy Websites using full CMS.

  • Developing and write web-friendly quality copy for newsletters, flyers, case studies etc and ensure stories are communicated effectively across multiple channels.

  • Be aware of the latest developments and trends in social media, online arenas and in digital technologies. Suggest new ways to implement these within the Trust with the aim of constantly raising the profile and awareness of the Academies.

  • Support all colleagues to ensure online information is uploaded and kept up to date.

  • Create and produce script for video and promotions.

  • Working with the Graphic / Web Designer to film, edit and produce video content for promotional purposes and to assist in the sourcing and creation of demo CDs/DVDs.

  • To commission and manage external agencies where appropriate.

  • Provide digital signage where appropriate across the Trust.

  • In collaboration with the Graphic / Web Designer provide videography and photography where appropriate, building a bank of usable imagery. Including: management of audio and video using specialist software and management of audio/video/visual uploads and channels.

  • Monitor all digital channels to analyse usage, reach and impact, preparing regular reports on activity.

  • Develop Search Engine Optimisation where appropriate to ensure a consistent high profile and impact for the Trust brand and services.

  • Support Open Evenings and other promotional activities where appropriate across the Trust.

  • Work with the Head of Marketing and Communications, and the Graphic / Web Designer to ensure the Trust’s brand is consistently applied and used, offering advice to staff and others regarding correct application of the logo and branding and ensuring brand standards are upheld at all times.

  • Ensure web-based data is appropriately archived for future needs and reference.

  • To process and standardise letters home and provide digital copies online.

  • To provide support when needed to Senior Leaders & Heads of Year in the construction and delivery of Powerpoint Presentations.

  • Responsible for own administration, file management and archiving.

  • To carry out other duties, commensurate with the grade of the post, as directed by the Head of Marketing and Communications after due consultation.
