“Strong and Effective Governance Underpins the Most Effective Academies.”

White Rose Academies Trust Seeks Governors to Support the Highest Quality of Governance.

The White Rose Academies Trust is dedicated to raising and fulfilling the ambitions of young people and is actively looking for dedicated, passionate, and responsible individuals to aid with the upholding and enhancement of governance across all four of our academies. We are looking to recruit governors at primary and secondary level.

Meeting six times a year, governors have a crucial role to play, with the Local Accountability Board ensuring that the school has a medium to long-term vision for its future and that there is a robust strategy in place for achieving its vision.

That vision, ethos and strategic direction, coupled with a responsibility to hold leadership at all levels to account with regards to educational performance, as well a duty to oversee financial performance across the academies, means the role of a governor is a varied and fulfilling one.

The White Rose Academies Trust highlight that Governors do not need to be experts in education or in a professional sphere, rather they just need a desire to utilise their skills and qualities to enhance the work of the academies within the trust, which will positively impact the lives of the young people whom they serve.

Mr Andrew Whitaker, CEO of the White Rose Academies Trust, commented “I feel privileged to have been supported, and positively challenged, by the Governors who have kindly served on our Local Accountability Boards and our Trust Board since I joined in 2016. Each individual has shared their unique talents, skills, and qualities to benefit the work we do at the trust.

“I want to emphasise the importance of strong governance and how everybody can bring something to the table whether that be a new voice, a different perspective or a specific talent, everyone can play their part. I urge you to consider applying for this voluntary position and using your time, talents and attributes to improve the lives of young people in Leeds.”

Any interested individuals are encouraged to express their interest by emailing Vicki Reynolds, Clerk to the LAB, reynolds.v@whiteroseacademies.org and Sam Corbett, Clerk to the Board, corbett.c@whiteroseacademies.org.
