Updated: Jun 17, 2022

Since leaving Leeds City Academy in 2020, Hannah has continued to flourish, and had a strong participation in school life and in particular a significant contribution and leadership role within UpSoc, The Grammar School at Leeds' (GSAL) equity, diversity and inclusion society. Full school colours at GSAL is the highest accolade for achievement and service and synonymous with the distinctive and highly-coveted purple striped blazer.

This accolade is just another testament to both the academic and personal development that Hannah is persistently making, which is seeing her grow into a wonderfully passionate and influential woman.

The White Rose Academies Trust is proud to work with GSAL on their bursary programme, which provides means-tested support for for top achieving students to ensure that a wide-range of pupils have the opportunity to attend the school.

Hannah is currently one of eight ex-WRAT students attending GSAL, with one alumni who is in her first year of university. There are students from all of White Rose Academies’ secondary schools who have been awarded bursary places at GSAL.

Hannah commented: “This award is not for me, but it is a symbol that shows everyone the type of people the WRAT brings out and builds. The award goes out to everyone in the WRAT because I am who I am because of the care and support that was given and provided by the staff in the trust. It does feel amazing to bring back such an award, it is a representation of the amazing family that we have back at the White Rose Academies Trust. I always feel like a proud daughter when I hear that the whole of the trust is proud of my achievements and they also support me through everything that I do. This shows me that Once White Rose, Always White Rose.”

Mr Whitaker, CEO, White Rose Academies Trust added: “On behalf of the Trust, I would like to congratulate Hannah on receiving this wonderful recognition from The Grammar School at Leeds. I and all at the trust continue to marvel at the wonderful woman Hannah has become. Remember Hannah, once White Rose, Always White Rose.”
