In his first blog, Tom writes about experiences from his Business Officer Apprenticeship, as a key member of the Admin team at Leeds East Academy:
Hi, I’m Tom and having started working as the Business Support Apprentice at the start of June, I’ve come to realise Dolly Parton had it wrong, working 8 to 4 is the real way to make a living.
Back when I was in high school I always wondered what went on in the office, the rumours of there even being a McDonald’s in there spread wide around my school. Now I’m in that office and I can confirm (sadly) there is not. However there is an amazing working environment full of employees who really care about the students and their education.
"The Office I work in is amazing, we definitely have our own space to get the work done, but it also has that homely feeling so if a student requires assistance they can feel welcome enough to come and ask for help."
As I have been learning the different aspects of how to run a school, especially in the exam season, I have been helping with research projects to see where the school can aim to improve next to find our way to the `Outstanding` education we desire to offer our students.

Every day is different in Leeds East Academy, even when I had my research project, that lasted almost 2 weeks, I always had a lunch or break duty to do and always found a way to help out the other members of staff to keep me on my toes.
There is no wonder this school has been awarded ‘Good’ by Ofsted and with the advancement and progression we have planned the school will be helping students achieve their full potential for many years to come.
