Hi, my name is Hannah Moore and I have just finished my second year at Leeds Beckett University studying Business Management with Marketing, as part of my degree my third year is an Industrial Placement.

When I started my placement a month ago I was quite nervous, now I realise that I never should have been! The Central WRAT Team and the extended team within the academies have been extremely welcoming and friendly. Since starting my role as Trust Business and Marketing Officer I have been involved in many different tasks and projects, my work load has been very diverse and has given me breadth to improvement my skill set.

When looking for placements I never thought I would get a role which was so diverse, this makes my days within the Trust interesting as I have many different tasks to complete. In the four weeks since starting I have been in many meetings with senior colleagues including the Executive Principal, Vice Principals and the Academy Principals. This has given me an insight into the business developments within the Trust, which is something that relates closely with my University course and I find very interesting. I have found it very valuable being involved in meetings with senior leaders within the Trust as this has helped to improve my knowledge of the corporate side of the business.

The End of Year Reflection Event was a great opportunity for me to exercise my event planning abilities. Prior to this I had never planned an event and is something I found very rewarding, it was also an excellent opportunity for me to meet many colleagues from across the Trust.

I have also been involved in the annual Luminate Teaching and Learning Conference which was held at The University of Leeds, this provided an excellent opportunity for networking and I spoke to many professionals about University and my appointment within the Trust. Being a part of the events team on the day, enhanced my confidence when mingling with the 1000 attendees.

I have been tasked with planning and arranging interview processes within the Trust, doing this has put my organisational and managerial skills to the test. Arranging interview rooms, creating schedules and general organisation of the day has allowed me to take the lead on projects which is something I didn’t think I would be doing so soon, but I have thoroughly enjoyed being pushed to complete tasks, again increasing my confidence within the workplace.

I have really enjoyed my first month working with the Trust and I am looking forward to see what the next month holds!
