Our Apprentice Blogs: Meet Mohammed
In his first blog, Mohammed writes about experiences from his Business Officer Apprenticeship, as a key member of the Admin team at Leeds East Academy:
Hello, my name is Mohammed Saqib. I have been part of the Leeds East Academy admin team since June working as a Business Administration Apprentice. I left high school in 2012 for university and now I am back in a school, with the aim of reaching new heights.
When I started in June, it was extremely busy as it was the exam period. I had to use initiative and provide support wherever possible. We have a small admin team but they are an enormous part of my life, it is almost like having a second family.
Being a member of support staff, I was quite surprised by the amount that goes through our small and cosy office. Slowly, I was involved in many tasks and even obscure ones like taking registers in form time. It is always fun when the kids ask me what I do as our office is nicely hidden away.
I have been involved in a wide range of jobs and tasks so it’s fair to say that every day is different and comes with its own sets of challenges. In time, I will be narrowing my options and hoping to pursue the data side here at Leeds East Academy. In the meantime, sQuid payment has been my main task aiming to help parents set this up with our long-term goal being a cashless system.
To sum up this first half of my journey I would say it has been amazing. There is so much to learn, many ways to develop which I am excited for. It has been satisfying to assist Senior, Middle and Pastoral leaders with day-to-day tasks, duties and being there to support everyone. I am ready to see what adventures lie in the future for myself and for The White Rose Academies Trust.
