Leeds City Academy
Spot Salary: £89,297 + up to £10,000 PRP payment
An exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to join the rapidly improving White Rose Academies Trust on its journey to Outstanding.
The Trust is proud to be sponsored by Leeds City College, which along with the Trust, Keighley College and Leeds College of Music is part of the Luminate Education Group. In July 2019, the highly respected Harrogate College will also join the innovative and transformational Luminate Education Group.
Executive Principal, Andrew Whitaker, joined the Trust in September 2016, when all three academies were at risk of being placed in ‘Special Measures’. On joining, Andrew made a pledge that all three academies would be judged outstanding by 2020. True to his word, the last two years have seen rapid improvements at all three academies and, following the release of the National League Tables for Secondary Schools in October 2017, the Trust celebrated record-breaking progress across all of its schools.
• Leeds City Academy was placed as the fourth most improved school in Yorkshire and then secured its best ever GCSE results in Summer 2018.
• Leeds East Academy was placed in the top 15% of schools nationally for progress, the most improved school in Yorkshire and the fourth most improved school in the country.
• Leeds West Academy is one of the most improved schools in the West of Leeds.
All three academies were proud to be featured in the 2018 edition of The Parliamentary Review, a publication which aims to share best practice among policy makers and business leaders.
We are now seeking to appoint an exceptional candidate to join the Trust as Principal of Leeds City Academy and would like to hear from anyone who feels they have the skills and ambition to fulfil our vision, whilst inspiring and empowering others to achieve it. The successful candidate will be driven by a commitment to create the best educational opportunities for young people, to raise aspirations and transform lives.
Close to the City Centre and the University of Leeds, the Academy is proud of its diverse student body (just over 600 students with over 47 different languages spoken in the Academy and over 69% of students EAL) who, along with our staff body, bring to life our motto ‘Aspire Together, Achieve Together’ every single day. With average class sizes of just 17, we believe the Academy is a highly desirable place of work for ambitious education professionals, who will be joining one of the most productive, supportive and talented leadership teams in the country. Part of The White Rose Academies Trust - the most rapidly improved family of secondary schools in the region - Leeds City Academy is accelerating on a thrilling journey which will ultimately see the school, its staff and its students, secure an Ofsted rating of outstanding by 2021.
