Danny started at the Trust in 2013 as a Computer Science Teacher at Leeds West Academy through the Teach First programme. Danny joined the Teach First programme because of his relentless passion to improve the life chances of young people. This passion and mission for working with young people began when he worked in the USA with underprivileged children from inner city New York and seeing the impact that can be made on the lives of young people.

Danny worked his way into a pastoral leadership role in the academy's Middle Leadership Team and quickly progressed onto the Senior Leadership team as Assistant Principal for Inclusion. Through this time, Danny implemented many new initiatives and systems to support Pupil Premium strategies, students with Special Educational Needs and launched the Additional Needs Team, including new online systems, provisions and ways of working. As part of the Senior Leadership team, the academy moved from 'Requires Improvement' to 'Good' in one inspection window.

In 2019, Danny moved to Leeds East Academy as Vice Principal for Quality of Education. In that time Danny led significant overhauls in Curriculum, Assessment and Teaching & Learning as well as overseeing the implementation of the COVID-19 response.

In more recent times, Danny took on the role of Acting Principal, in order to support Sarah Carrie, as she transitioned into her new position as Executive Principal of the White Rose Academies Trust. The next step in Danny’s exciting career came when he was announced as Leeds East Academy’s new Principal in June 2022, as the academy continues on its journey to outstanding. Since then there has been a strong focus from Danny on culture, student experience and a long-term plan for success and internal expansion as Leeds East continues to be the school of choice in the area.

In addition to academy work, Danny has completed the Teaching Leaders Fellows programme, SSAT Leadership Programme and the NPQH (National Professional Qualification in Headship). Danny is a visiting fellow and assessor on the NPQ programmes and is currently delivering the NPQLBC. Danny has been invited to speak at a number of national and conferences on Inclusion, Data and Leadership for Teach First, SSAT, Keynote Educational and Grammar School at Leeds.
