Chris Reynolds

Vice Principal


Chris Reynolds graduated from York St John’s University in Sports Studies and Physical Education, before going onto complete his Masters in Physical Education at Leeds Metropolitan University. Chris completed his teacher training whilst working at the Morley Academy in his first role as a teacher of PE.

In 2009, Chris joined the David Young Community Academy in Leeds where he became Head of Boys’ PE, whilst leading on coaching and other CPD programmes, both within his school and others. This contributed to the Academy achieving a Good for Teaching and Learning. During this time, Chris completed the Emerging Academy Leaders programme via the National College.

Chris initially began working at Leeds East Academy as part of a secondment from David Young Community Academy to assist in transforming behaviour. During this time, he was asked to stay on a permanent basis as the Foundation School Leader, which he started in 2013. During this time, Chris played a key role in the implementation of the PD system at Leeds East Academy, which transformed students’ behaviour.

Chris was appointed as a Senior Leader at The White Rose Academies Trust in October 2016 and currently works as a Trust Vice Principal. Chris has recently been designated as an ‘Specialist Leader of Education’ (SLE) and is undertaking his NPQH. Chris’ role encompasses a range of strategic development work across the three academies. His role also includes leading on Trust wide initiatives such as the design and implementation of the new behaviour policy (Positive Behaviour policy), the Trust wide attendance initiative and school improvement work both internally and externally. Other projects Chris has lead/supported include:

  • The delivery of CPD across the Trust

  • Staffing restructures

  • Leading specific HR projects

  • Growth of the Trust

  • Ofsted preparation including website ‘Inspector Resources’ pages and audits of schools

Within this role, he continues to drive forward the vision of the Executive Principal – that all three academies will achieve an Ofsted rating of ‘Outstanding’.


Away from work, Chris enjoys a variety of sports, spending time with his family, friends and dogs.
